Durham City & Cathedral - Drone Photo From Above
£20.00
An original photo of the wonderful city of Durham in northern England, from above by Stuart Hodgson, aka The Hiking Photographer. The historic city of Durham, with it's famed universities and Cathedral, is stunning any time of year - but in autumn it is extra special. This drone photo shows how the River Wear forms an almost island like body of land for the Cathedral, which made it the perfect location to site and develop such an important building. Infact the word Durham comes from the Norse for 'Dun' (hill) and 'Holme' (island), with it being chosen as the place to lay St Cuthbert’s remains to rest after being moved by the monks from Holy Island when the vikings invaded over 1000 years ago.
